Virgin Atlantic : Sir Richard Branson on board the inaugural flight

Virgin Atlantic Airways will commence services between Mauritius and London Heathrow operating twice a week on Mondays and Saturdays, on an A340-300 aircraft, as from 29 October 2007.
To launch Virgin Atlantic services in Mauritius, a senior delegation visited the island last week. The delegation comprised of Mr Paul Charles – Director of Communications; Mr Paul Dickinson – Director of Sales & Marketing; Mr Andrew Fyfe – Regional Manager Middle East & Indian Ocean; and Mrs Michelle Southgate - Country Manager, Mauritius met the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Xavier Luc Duval for a courtesy visit.
During a press conference on Friday it was announced that Sir Richard Branson will be onboard the inaugural flight together with 150 finest British VIP’s, Celebrities and Journalists. A series of events are being planned up to mark the occasion.
Virgin Atlantic will offer three cabins of service on flights between Mauritius and London, and all aircraft are fitted with the award winning Upper Class Suite.
The suite consists of a fully reclining leather seat for take off, a place to sit and eat your meal opposite your partner, and the longest fully flat bed in the world with a proper mattress to sleep on. The Upper Class cabin also features an onboard bar and a beauty therapist. Premium Economy passengers can enjoy a glass of champagne before take off, complimentary newspapers, dedicated check-in and priority baggage handling. Economy passengers have TV’s in every seat, an amenity kit full of useful items, and a choice of 3 meals including a vegetarian option.
